ZEE Group came to us wanting a site that would allow potential customers to quickly and easily get an automated price estimate for the ZEE waste and storage services. They also wanted a good looking site to revamp their look and feel.

It was immediately clear that we wouldn’t be able to do this kind of thing on a standard CMS platform like WordPress or Joomla, we would have to create a custom web application. After some research we opted to go with a Ruby on Rails solution.

In the brief, the founder of ZEE. explained that he wanted a very simple interface, so we opted for a flat design using Twitter Bootstrap on the front end.

On the backend we used the Ruby on Rails framework to create the estimate system, which would take in the user data and generate a price estimate before emailing the estimate to the client. While this may sound simple on paper, there was is a large ommount of automated logic used to create the price estimates, which would not have been possible on a standard CMS platform.

We have subsequently gone through a few iterations and modifications to the site, to make it more user friendly and a quicker easier experience.

We also did some some SEO and ran a successful Adwords campaign. We were able to quadruple the traffic to the site and generate an increase in ZEE services sales.

A new startup hoping to change the way restaurants and caterers find suppliers for high quality ingredients and other food related products.

Daniel Forsthofer, who is also the founder of Tutto Food Co. approached us with the idea and the best way to go about it. There were two main approaches. Full on custom development of a web app from scratch, or a semi bespoke method using an existing platform with themes and plugins.

We opted to start out with the semi bespoke approach as it would allow Daniel to test out his idea as an MVP without breaking the bank. We used WordPress as the core platform with a variety of plugins and some custom development to get as close to the desired functionality as possible.

While the site may not incorporate all the desired functionality we were able to build a good looking and functional site that came very close, but at the fraction of the development time and costs. We often promote this approach for testing out an idea, and then gauging a market response. If it works out we can then look at building a proper system with all the bells and whistles.

Stoogle first came to us when they were still just students working on an entrepreneurial side project. Since finishing varsity they have come a long way and are soon to be launching a range of new microsites and digital projects which we are helping to build. We are even going to be sharing office space with them!

Stoogle’s first site, www.stoogle.co.za, was just your standard WordPress magazine style article website. But after extensive plugin and PHP modifications we have made it do far more.

We have implemented a number of complex third party plugins and modified them to suit Stoogles purposes. From bursary and scholarship listing functionality to a Q&A section to even and online classifieds. We are now currently in the process of creating bespoke custom websites for them built on the Ruby on Rails platform.

The new projects we are developing are all custom solutions and will require a lot of effort and time, but we look forawrd to launching them. These will be: a single application form for all universities and technicians, a classifieds website for student books, student stuff and student digs, a bursary and scholarship listing and applicaiton site, a full on e-commerce store, and online tutoring platform and even a mobile application.

We’ll keep the latest products updated here as they roll out.

Tasty Planet are one of our international clients, a London based startup.

Their requirements were to build an affordable website that would allow them to sell bookable “food holiday tours”.

We opted to go with a WordPress approach with some custom development for the more advanced features. We used Woocommerce for the commerce functionality with a string of additional plugins and custom PHP development to get them to correctly communicate with each other to get the desired functionality.

We fully modified a premium WordPress theme, creating our own child theme to build a beautiful but unique custom website.

After development we also assisted Tastyplanet with integrating in depth analytical tools and conversion tracking with Google Analytics.

This is an ongoing in-house project that allows people to submit photos and turn them into art.

We opted to go with a WordPress approach with some advanced customisation, additional plugins and custom development for the more modern, responsive and advanced look.

After development of Artificial Art we integrated in depth analytical tools and conversion tracking with Google Analytics. Another important aspect of the site was SEO optimization, we were able to get Artificial Art ranked higher naturally on search engines.
